Communicating in a Crisis Workshop
London (Embankment) : Wednesday 23rd October
Within this workshop we will be showing you how to identify your
stakeholders, manage your relationships with them and also how to
communicate with them – before, during and after a disaster – using a
variety of state of the art technologies that you have probably never
seen before!
An outline of the course for the day:
· Business Continuity – an introduction to BS25999, Corporate Governance
and the Civil Contingencies Act.
· Communications at the heart of planning – best practice guidelines
& stakeholders relationship management.
· Case study – The Ladbroke Train Crash; how communications worked.
· Case study – The 7/7 Bombings; lessons learned.
· Communications systems and staff record keeping; access to
information.
· Handling the media in a crisis
· Roundup of the day and close
There will also be two group collaboration exercises through the day.
The Speaker: Jim Ensom, who has worked as a radio and television
journalist for the BBC since 1981. His reporting career spans the IRA
bombing campaign, the Gulf War and the food crises caused by BSE and
Foot & Mouth disease. Since 1995, he has operated extensively as a
crisis management and business continuity consultant advising companies
like Lloyds of London, the Museum of London and Greene King. Recently he
was the editor of Globalcontinuity.com and prior to that the Managing
Editor of Survive, a UK business continuity magazine.
